1. Orders and prices
Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable GST and QST, which are calculated at checkout. We may correct pricing errors before an order ships and will contact you first if a price changes.
An order is accepted when we send the confirmation email. Until then we may decline it, most often because stock ran out between your order and our fulfilment.
2. Preorders
Issue 01 is sold as a preorder and charged at the time of purchase. The expected ship month is stated on the product page (fall 2026) and may move; if it moves by more than 30 days we will email you and you may cancel for a full refund.
3. Shipping and risk
We ship from Montréal. Delivery estimates are not guarantees. Risk passes to you on delivery; if a parcel arrives damaged, photograph it and write to us within 14 days and we will replace or refund it.
4. Cancellation and returns
If you are a consumer in Québec, the Consumer Protection Act gives you cancellation rights on distance contracts, including where goods are not delivered within the stated period. Nothing here limits those rights.
Otherwise: unopened copies may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the item price, return shipping at your cost. Damaged or misprinted copies are replaced at ours.
5. Intellectual property
Articles, photographs and illustrations remain the property of their creators and are published here under licence. The Field Note name, wordmark and design are ours.
You may quote and link to our work with attribution. You may not republish a full article or photograph, or use our material to train a machine-learning model, without written permission.
6. Pitches and submissions
Sending a pitch creates no obligation on either side and no confidentiality. We may already be working on something similar. Commissions are governed by a separate written agreement that covers fee, rights and deadline.
7. Liability
We provide the site as it is and do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
8. Governing law and language
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of the judicial district of Montréal.
This site is published in English and French. Where Québec law requires it, the French version governs.
